A Lenten Prayer

You, O Lord, I betrayed with a kiss.
You, O Lord, I spat upon.
It was You, O Lord, whom I raised my whip against.
You, O Lord, were the one whom I crowned with thorns.
It was You, O Lord, whose hands and feet I drove nails through.
You, O Lord, I raised high on a cross.
And still, O Lord, as You looked out upon the world You created, I was on Your mind.
Still, O Lord, You loved me despite my ignorance, despite my contempt.
And because of You, O Lord, a sinner has found Hope, a sinner has found Heaven.
My God, over these fourty days of Lent, I offer myself to You as never before to act as You acted, to serve as You served, and to love as You loved.
I humbly submit myself to You Whom I praise above all else, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Amen.
